Giveaway!

Now that things are getting somewhat back to normal, Shelby and I are back in the Sew Sisters studio with Karen and slowly getting back in the shop to work on machines.  I am blessed with back-up - a business partner know understands family always comes first and Adam from Studio Stitch to take over Bernina tech duties while I'm away.

Dad is doing so much better after that second surgery.  He's already out and about - being chauffeured to job sites and Home Depot, which is probably the best medicine for him.

And, I'm back from the annual fall retreat and from the American Water Works Association conference in Raleigh...two things I'll talk about later.  (cue the circus music...)

In the meantime, Karen has been keeping things moving at Sew Sisters and we've for some cool things going on.  But for today, the fun news is we have over 100 likes on Facebook.  (YAY!)  So, we decided to giveaway a pattern to celebrate.

So, if you're on Facebook, go to our page and comment on the post and you'll be in the drawing.  Easy peasy!

Post 201

Yep. I made it to 201 posts. So, to celebrate sticking to something for so long, I think I'll give something away.

I need a good laugh though. Work has me stress out beyond belief. I hope to never again have 15 projects out to bid at on time...15 federally funded projects...15 state regulated projects. It's a lot like the Starship Enterprise...going where no one has gone before. It's scary. It's dark. It's a giant black hole of paperwork, phone calls, contracts and never getting paid. I'm just waiting for the Romulans to vaporize me.

So, to enter my giveaway, leave me a message on this post by this Saturday morning (say...10:00 a.m. EST).

Tell me a funny Christmas story.

Everyone's got at least one.

And I really need a good laugh.

The winner gets my last little Christmas tree wall hanging.

Random Roamings

I googled "random number picker" and found, of course, a random number picker. I love Google. Anything you want, you can find with google except socks lost in the dryer.

So, the random number picker tossed out #6. So the winner of the giveaway is Ann S in Ohio! I decided that since it's cold in Ohio and Ann isn't a quilter, she needed a flannel quilt. So, I'm sending her a little Sweet Potato quilt.

One of my favorite things about this quilt is I experimented with free motion leaves in the skinny border. It was a blast to do.

More randomness... I finished the binding on this little quilt the other day. This was a kit I bought at Good Wives Company in Marion, Ohio a year and a half ago. The flannels used in this quilt are like butter. I've never felt fabric so soft. I wish I had a hundred yards more!

A few months ago, Soul Sister was asked to fill the president's position for the guild when the former president decided she needed to step down. So, the next thing I knew, I became workshop chair. Yesterday we had a guild workshop taught by my friend, Rug Hookin Buddy. (This is what happens...when one buddy goes into guild service, we all go. I'm sure it's the same all around the world.)

So...this class... we made fat quarter bags or as another friend likes to call them "Granny Drawers Bags" (because they look like great big granny bloomers). I didn't need to take the class. I've made a dozen or so of these bags, but workshops are fun and my buddies were going to be there. Here's my bag...
These are great bags. You can fit a Volkswagen Beetle in one.

Post 101

It's hard to believe this is my 101st post. Blogging has added a new dimension to my quilting life, not to mention all the wonderful people I've "met". So, of course, to celebrate, I'm going to do a giveaway. I'm not sure what I'll give away yet but it'll be something I made. A wall hanging, a bag, a quilt...I just haven't decided yet.

All you have to do is leave a comment on this post by midnight this Friday night. In the comment, tell me your favorite color and your favorite time of the year. That's it!

Good luck!
