Found It!

Photos of my "office".

That would be an armadillo from BU sitting on the corner of my desk.
What's my favorite color?

The temporary work bench in the back.
After shop hop we'll be rearranging a bit.

The cool gadget we found at BU so I can baste quilts again.

They work on those thick gray Rubbermaid tables! YAY!!!!

Shelby ignoring her Biscuitville bone biscuit.

Incredible show and tell from last week's $5 block meetings at Sew Original.

Tomoe's wonderful dolls featuring her husband's woodworking talent.

Tim's incredible original design.

DH with his new toy - okay so maybe he wasn't grinning as much as I thought. It was hot out there.

Hello Kitty.

The serger ballet.

Chain looper meets triple needles for a cover stitch.
(lower looper watching in the background)

Twin needles meet lower looper while upper looper swoops in from the side.

The earthquake. (I know my west coast cousins are laughing their hineys off right now.)

All caught up!

Off tomorrow for another adventure...

Monday, Monday

I used to hate Mondays.

Last Monday as I heard that big diesel truck pulling out of the driveway with my smiling husband behind the wheel off on an adventure for the week, I smiled.

Then I laughed because I was hearing this from my quilt studio where I was busy getting ready for my next adventure.

I thought: "It's Monday.....I'm smiling....bwahhhahhaahaaahaaaa!"

Fast forward to today.

It's Monday again.

I don't hear my husband leave because I am still fast asleep.

I get up, put my hair back in a bandanna, skip the make-up (as usual now), get the coffee and meet Bonnie to head for Pilot Mountain...which is closed for repaving. So off to Hanging Rock we go.

It's Monday. Everyone else is at work. We have the trail to ourselves...and the rock to ourselves.

(Scott Murkin inspired us to walk in the moss. "If you haven't walked barefoot in the moss, you need to re-prioritize.")

Then it's lunch at Duke's in Walnut Cove then home to get cleaned up for the staff meeting.

Then chocolate martinis with Holly and Muriel.

It's Monday.

bwahhhahhhaaahaahaa!

But For Now...

A friend posed the question to me yesterday on how my first week of "freedom" was. My answer was "I am a woman with options".

Yes, there is that possibility of an opportunity with another engineering firm. It is like a big sigh of relief that someone wants me.

But for now...

I am weighing my options.

I have always wanted a sabbatical...and now I have one. There are things I want to do during this time in between what was and what will be...or what could be...

or what I could never imagine could be...

What I've seen in the last 24 hours:
I have stuff to offer. Here's Sew Original's booth at the show this weekend. See that little monster quilt? I did that. Designed it, drafted the pattern and put it in a little Ziploc bag. People bought them...all of them.
'
'
I got more where that came from.
'
'
Then, I met this guy at the show. He left "corporate world" to live the dream. Go look at his website. You will see some beautiful things there. I want every quilt barn photo he's done.
'
What if he had not followed his heart?
'
What if I don't?
'
'
'
Then...
'
'
See this?
It's one of the stained glass windows at the church where we had our officer's retreat this weekend.
'
See this?

'
I could do something with that.
'

Yeah, God's been throwing too many things in my path for me to just jump back into the engineering world just yet.
'
Yes, I could panic.
Yes, I could go right back in and do what I've always done.
Yes, I could go for the bird in the hand.
'
But for now...
'
I think I'll chase the two in the bush.
