Where Have I Been?

I've been here...for a whole week.

We went down for Easter with the family and then stayed the rest of the week. My intention was to quilt all week so I'd have as many quilts ready for my show in a couple of weeks as possible. I did get six quilts quilted. I also got four completely done.

A New Orleans Puzzle...which has another border on it but it was so wavy, I cut it off.

Fannye's garden quilt which I have named Channeling Fannye. Why? Because I had technical difficulties while quilting it and cursed...a lot (one of the many Fannye traits that I miss).

A guild mystery quilt.

And there's one more - Hazel's Scraps - that now that I'm home, I cannot put my hands on it to get another photo. But there it is...under Shelby. (Rotten mop head dog. She perched on quilts all week like she deserved no less...which, of course, she doesn't...she can lay wherever she wants on whatever she wants.)

Last Saturday, we took the ferry over to Carolina Beach. I had seen on facebook that there was going to be a guided nature walk so I made Dave and Shelb go with me.

Shelby did not like the ferry AT ALL. This is her attempting a bonsai jump.

Once we got away from the noisy, vibrating ferry, she was a happy camper. It was a short walk but very cool. At Carolina Beach State Park, there are four ecosystems that converge together. One minute you're in the swamp, the next you're on a savanna.

Here's the really cool thing...

Pitcher plants.

But the coolest thing...

Venus fly traps. I had no idea they were so small.

On Sunday morning, Mom and I (and this year our good friend Larry joined us) went to the sunrise service on the beach. It was wonderful as always. I am always amazed at how many people show up. When we first started going, there would me a handful of folks there - 25 or so. I bet there were over 400 people there Sunday.

Maybe that's the coolest thing.
