The past two weeks have been a whirlwind. Work has been out of hand but I'm not going to whine. I'm glad to be there...even when I'm not glad, I still am deep down inside.
We spent New Year's weekend running back and forth from here to my hometown (not a far run really). My Dad was terribly sick and went into the hospital New Year's Day. Take the combination of slightly out of control diabetes, a bout with vertigo and add in an unknown infection and you get a 2 day visit to ICU and 4 days in the hospital. He is home and doing better, but not 100%. Diabetes is a wicked, evil thing.
During one of the trips home, we were treated to a home-cooked meal by an old friend. It was wonderful to catch up and tell my husband about my old adventures with Sam. We have tales to tell that span from Chapel Hill to Riga, Latvia. But that'll have to be a different post.
Last weekend was the much anticipated Miss Bee Haven retreat. It was, as usual, freezing outside but we didn't care. We get to sew in a wonderful craft room with lots of space and lots of light. We were cranking the work out too! I don't know how many tops were finished but there were MANY. The best part though is hanging out and laughing with friends. It was a blessing to forget about work for a bit and sew and laugh and sew and laugh.

Nane uses Laura's pound cake as a template for the Death Star on her nephew's Star Wars quilt while Laura dances in the background.

Sewing...Carolyn cranking out one of several quilt tops she finished during the weekend while Randi, our visitor from California works on a wonderful Civil War respoduction quilt. (She was lucky I didn't carry it off and keep it for myself.)

Laughing...
Bonnie points out that yes, she did use my 1" scrap of star print in her block!

Sewing... Quiltkeemosabee and
Karen came down just for the day on Saturday and made the most of it.

Laughing...
Karen models one of her borders.

Sewing...lots of "sweatshop" sewing...

Laughing...
Karen makes me laugh!

No, there's never a dull moment with Miss Bee Haven...a dull needle maybe, but never a dull moment!
